William Franklin Stevens (Bill), age 84, passed away on 11/09/2024, in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on June 14, 1940, in Hamilton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his mother Elouise T. Preston and Stepfather, William J. Preston. He leaves to cherish his memories of his beloved and devoted wife of 60 years, Diane Loving (Hawkins), sons, Brian, Anthony (Michelle), Jeffrey Allen, and William Franklin, Jr., and one very special grandson, Cameron William Stevens. In addition, he has many cousins and in-laws whom he deeply loved; and special friends Dr. Charles Showell, Cecil Brown, Daniel Owens, Bill Shaw, and Charlie Regano. 

His early childhood was in West Virginia, and his formative years were spent in Columbus, Ohio graduating from Columbus East High School 1958. He earned a BS in Mathematics from Northern Michigan University, 1966; MBA, University of Arkansas, 1972; and MS in Management Science/Operations Research, University of Dayton, 1987. In the interims, he matriculated at Ohio State University 1959-1964, the University of Oklahoma, and Wright State University. He enlisted in the USAF in 1964 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt in 1968. He retired as a Major after 20 years of active-duty service culminating with his final five years of active duty as an Assistant Professor of Acquisition Management at the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology. Following his military retirement, he was a full-time employee with ARINC/Booz Allen Hamilton for 36 years, supporting numerous USAF acquisition programs, such as the F-16, C-5, 8-2, and Egyptian, Taiwan, Turkey, and Pakistan Foreign Military Sales F-16 sustainment programs. His greatest joy was in the classroom as an adjunct professor instructing undergraduate college mathematics and probability/statistics at Sinclair College 1979-2013; Park College 1989-1992; Central State University, 1993-1995; and Graduate­ level Quantitative Analysis courses for Central Michigan University, 1993- 2012. His excellent teaching skills resulting in him twice being recognized and honored as an "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" award recipient. He was a stalwart middle linebacker playing semi-professional football in Europe for four years, 1970-1973. He was a 36-year Ohio High School white­ hat varsity football official, retiring in 2014. An ardent season ticket supporter of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengal, and University of Dayton Basketball for many years. He is most proud of the fact that Diane and his three sons earned University Bachelorette degrees, and two of his sons followed in his footsteps; served and retired as commissioned officers in the U.S. Army (Brian) and U.S. Navy (Bill Jr). 

A visitation will be held from 1-4pm on Sunday November 17, 2024, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH 45429. A funeral service will be held the following day, Monday November 18, 2024 at 10:00am also at Routsong Kettering. Burial at David’s Cemetery.
