Mrs. Willie Mae (Hamer) Hinton, 96, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 4th at 12:15 AM. She passed in the residence of family in Upper Marlboro, MD after a long and abundantly rich life. Willie Mae was born in Lodi (Kilmichael), Mississippi on December 6, 1918, in the union of the late Ocean Perry and Bill Hamer.
Along with her brothers, Harry, Preston, and Willie, she was raised with the values of hard-work and integrity. These values carried her throughout her schooling and over 30 year career as an LPN. Shortly after her marriage to Rufus Hinton, Sr. Willie Mae settled in Dayton, OH for years until her husband's death in 1990 when she moved to Toledo, OH, Tampa, FL, and finally Upper Marlboro, MD. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, quilting, and crocheting.
Willie Mae is survived by her grandchildren Juanita, Justin, Jason (Lauren), Jackie, Jessica (Abdul), Jennifer (Kunle), and Marc; five great grandchildren, Nailah, Anisa, Maya, Aiden, and Camryn, several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Sr.; brothers, Harry, Preston, and Willie; sons, Rufus Jr. (Yvette), and Michael (Glenda).
Willie Mae will forever be remembered for her uncanny sense of humor, wisdom, and deep capacity to love.
A visitation will be held from 10:00AM 11:30AM on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E Stroop Rd Kettering, OH 45429. Funeral Service to follow at 11:30AM. Burial will follow at 1:00PM at Dayton National Cemetery.
