WALLBAUM, Willis F., 94, of Dayton, OH, passed away Saturday, June 19. He was born on May 1, 1916 in Charles City, IA, the son of Bessie Maude (Gettemy) Wallbaum and George Frederick Wallbaum. After graduating from the University of Iowa in 1943, he was attending the College of Law when he was inducted into the U.S. Army. Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, he was assigned as a Captain to the 16th Armored Division, Third Army, commanded by Gen. George S. Patton. At the end of World War II, he served in various units of USFET and USAFE in the European Theater and attended the Nuremberg War Crime Trials. Returning to the United States in 1955, he was employed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. After working on the first computer simulation for logistics management, he was assigned as Chief of Materiel Processing. He also was the Air Force representative to the Department of Defense work groups and committees dealing with materiel issues. His Masonic affiliations included dual membership in the Alpha Lodge and the Waynesville Lodge, the York Rite, the Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, 32nd degree Mason, Antioch Temple in Dayton, OH. He was married to Winifred E. McAllister on March 9, 1950 in a union that continued for 50 years until her death in 2000. In 2003, he married Dorothea J. (Hill) Atkins, who survives him. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by five children: Mary (Wallbaum) Hladky of Fort Lauderdale, FL., Irene Wallbaum (Magee) of Bakersfield, CA, Donald F. Wallbaum of Logan, OH, Elizabeth Marnell and Sherry Denlinger. Five grandchildren: Elizabeth and Michelle Magee, Elliott Denlinger, Maia and Ezra Marnell. One sister Lucile (Wallbaum) Andersen of Tucson, AZ. He is also remembered by his sons-in-law Bill Hladky, John Magee, Bill Denlinger, Matthew Marnell and daughter-in-law Joy MillerUpton. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 5:00-8:00 PM with Masonic services at 5:30 PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St. Centerville, OH. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 11:00AM at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Hill officiating. Burial in Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
